Good to know

Before you buy

Is the filling included, or am I buying just the cover?

The filling is included. Every cushion arrives complete, in 100% cotton velvet and ready to use.

It is worth saying plainly, because it is not the norm at this level. A good many design brands sell the cover alone and leave you to find an insert that fits it properly, which is rarely as simple as it sounds.

Inside is a fill of small feathers with a high concentration of down. That is what gives a cushion enough weight to sit properly against the back of a sofa, and enough give to hold the shape of where you last leaned. A synthetic fill keeps its shape more stubbornly, which sounds like an advantage until you sit down.

Will the colors look the same as they do on my screen?

Close, and we would rather be honest than reassuring about the gap.

Every screen renders color slightly differently, so no photograph can promise an exact match. Velvet adds a second variable: the pile catches and holds light, which means a cushion reads deeper and warmer in evening lamplight than in flat daylight. That shift is part of why we work in velvet at all, and it is the one quality a photograph cannot fully carry.

What we can promise is that we have done our best to make the photographs read the way the cushion reads in the room. What you see is as close as a screen allows.

If a color arrives and it is not right for your room, you are welcome to return it.

How do I care for a velvet cushion?

Velvet is more forgiving than most people expect. It simply does not like water or prolonged pressure.

Everyday. Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment.

Spills. Blot immediately, never rub. Velvet's pile absorbs quickly, so speed matters more than technique.

Cleaning. Dry clean only. Do not machine wash, soak, tumble dry or iron.

Sunlight. Keep out of prolonged direct sun. Like all dyed natural fibers, velvet will fade over time in a south-facing window.
